I have returned from Colorado and I am stoked!! Learning to snowboard was such an awesome experience. I cannot wait to get back on the slopes.
As I geared up for my first lesson, I deemed the new socks that Ryan bought me my "lucky socks". While I am not a particularly superstitious person, these socks definitely were lucky. First off, I get to my group lesson, which I was sure was going to be filled with little kids, and I was the only one that showed up = private lesson. I then find out that my instructor Dave, is an instructor trainer = best instructor ever. Not only was he a GREAT instructor, he was so passionate about teaching me to learn and to love snowboarding. As a former gymnastics instructor and currently a personal trainer, Dave and I clicked from the first heel slide down the bunny slope. I spent the next three days learning to snowboard and by the end of day 3 I was off the bunny slope and onto my first blue/green run.
While I had a couple of wipe outs, I managed to return home with no serious injuries and a love for a new sport. Thank you Dave! I will be doing whatever it takes to get back out on the slopes asap! On the last day my lucky socks struck again, as these two little old ladies sold us their lift tickets for $30. I am very fond of these bad boys!!
Snowboarding was such a great form of exercise and despite chowing down at the end of every day (and washing down the chow with a couple of beers or margaritas) I returned home below my average weight! My hips and legs definitely got a great workout as I was sore from day 2 to day 4. Each day we hit the hot tub and I followed with some basic stretches to get me ready for the following day.

So now that I am back it is time for the new game plan to begin however, one of the minor bumps and bruises that I acquired from my snowboarding adventure is a bruised tailbone. This lovely bruise has limited the kinds of exercise that I am able to do, so no crossfit or tennis until that has healed. Yesterday I did 25 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of leg machines, BOSU balance exercises and core. I followed that with 5 minutes of stretching. I have been icing my tailbone and I have hopes that I will be good to go next week.
I will end this post with some more great pics from my trip to Vail, Colorado with Ryan and his amazing Family!
