So, if you are a regular reader, you will have noticed that it has been a long while since my last post. I have had some major changes occur in my personal life that have distracted me from being able to sit down and post. All is well now and I promise to never leave you in the lurch again!
I am a big believer in things happening for a reason. Sometimes the reasons are revealed immediately, while sometimes it may take months of patiently waiting or years of reflecting to figure out the purpose behind a tough time. At the very least, times of adversity will always provide a lesson to be learned. However, you must be willing to reflect on your situation and figure out how you could have handled it in a different or better manner. If you walk around feeling sorry for yourself and waiting for your "luck" to change, you may be waiting for a while. Over the past month I have done my best to take the good with the bad and to keep positive. Positive thoughts breed positive results!

California Vacation
I recently took a trip to California to visit some family and had an absolute blast. I visited the beach towns right outside of Los Angeles. I have family in Redondo Beach but also visited, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Palos Verdes. What a beautiful part of the country!
At the Orlando Airport before the trip, I snagged my first Pumpkin Spice Non-Fat Latte of the season :) Only drank half because I think they overloaded it with the syrup :( Then I had some trail mix and ginger ale. So strange but I always crave ginger ale on airplanes, not sure why.
When I landed I was starving! After a small hiccup with our transportation we grabbed some subs from a little place near my cousins house and enjoyed our lunch on her cute back porch. I got a sub with Chicken, bell peppers, marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese which was very tasty with a Sierra Nevada. After our late lunch we just hung out at my cousins house and I got to know their dog Lucy :)
The next day we went for a bike ride along the beach and had lunch at the Redondo Beach Brewing Company. I ordered their Stir-Fry and it was amazing. I really wanted to wash it down with a beer but decided against it because my cousin Meghan and I were riding the tandem bike! It had been a while since I was on a bike and she had never been the driver so I thought I would steer clear of the alcohol and stay focused. Once we got the hang of it we had a blast!!
The whole trip was filled with great food and beer! While its grown in popularity all over the US, home-brewed beer is all the rage in California. For my cousins birthday, her friends made a traditional Greek feast that was delish! With dinner I sampled (multiple times) the home-brewed beer that her friends made which had a finish of fresh oranges! The evening was fantastic and was a great way to celebrate my cousins birthday.
The next day we decided to take Lucy for a hike in the Palos Verde Cove. One of the best things about this part of the country is that there are so many great ways to be active. Everywhere we went there were people running, biking, paddle boarding, hiking, surfing, and even scuba diving. While I was there it was kind of overcast and a little rainy but there were still plenty of people getting their exercise on, I can only imagine the number of people on a nice summer day.
Before I boarded my red-eye flight home, I enjoyed a glass of wine, read the latest Shape Magazine (I love me some Pink), and reflected on the past few days :)
My trip to California was fantastic and I want to thank my Aunt Carol and Uncle Tim for making it happen. I got to spend some quality time with my family, meet their amazing friends and experience the awesomeness of where they live. I can't wait to make it back out there to do it all again!
